    How Elixir works

Regular transfers between different Polish banks are cleared by the National Clearing House (KIR) in three sessions, on business days only. The sending bank has to submit the transfer before the session closes, and the receiving bank credits it only after the session is settled. That is why every bank has its own cut-off times.

    Session times by bank

Outgoing: the latest time to place a transfer so it makes a given session. Incoming: when the bank credits transfers from that session. Items marked with an asterisk are estimates. NBP times are approximate and match the NBP settlement windows: 10:30–11:00, 14:30–15:00 and 17:00–17:30.

    Upcoming days without sessions

Elixir does not run on Saturdays, Sundays or Polish public holidays. A transfer ordered on such a day leaves on the first session of the next business day. Since 2025 Christmas Eve is also a public holiday.

      Common questions

      Transfers within the same bank

They do not go through Elixir. The money is usually in the recipient's account within seconds or minutes, weekends included.

      Can it be faster?

Yes. Instant transfers (Express Elixir or BlueCash) and BLIK phone transfers arrive within seconds, 24/7. Banks usually charge a small fee for an instant transfer.

The time has passed and the money is still not there

Crediting times are typical values published by banks. A bank may credit a transfer late, and a transfer can also be held for verification. If it still has not arrived after the next session, ask the sending bank to confirm that it was sent.

Paying ZUS or a tax office

It works like any other Elixir transfer. For the office, what counts is the date your account is debited, so place the order on a business day before the last session.

Session times come from schedules published by banks and KIR. Banks can change them, so treat the result as a forecast and check your bank's notice when it matters. This site is not affiliated with any bank or with the National Clearing House (KIR).
